How Does PM Compass Retrieve and Store Primavera P6 Progress Data?

PM Compass utilizes the Primavera P6 web services to retrieve data from Primavera P6. The project data is stored in the PM Compass schedule tables and displays when you access views such as Schedule Analysis and Enter Schedule Progress. When you enter schedule progress, a progress entry is created in PM Compass and the data is stored until it has been approved. After the progress is approved, the schedule tables are updated with the approved progress. At this point, you can see the progress entered when you are in the Schedule Analysis view. 

When the nightly scheduled process runs, it checks each project to see if there is approved status that needs to be updated in the Primavera P6 schedule. If found, Primavera P6 web services is used to update the existing activities in the schedule with the approved progress.
