Typically, a project manager replans when the budget no longer reflects the work to be performed. For information about how Cobra handles the budget before and after the status date, see Replan: Budget Before and Beyond Status Date.
You replan a control account or work package using the Cost Actions dialog box.
You can view the Cost Actions dialog box from the Workflows Form View and the Model Changes Form View.
To view the Cost Actions dialog box from the Workflow Form View:
On the Navigation menu, click Workflows » <change management workflow category>.
In the List View, select an existing workflow that has not started or has a New or In Review status, or create a new workflow that includes Change Details and click Form View.
On the Form View toolbar, click Processes » Cost Actions.
To view the Cost Actions dialog box from the Model Changes Form View:
On the Navigation menu, click Model Changes » Model Changes.
On the List View toolbar, click Form View.
On the Form View toolbar, click Processes » Cost Actions.
The Cost Actions dialog box grid includes a collapsed list of control accounts selected on the workflow form that can be expanded to the work package level.
To replan a control account or work package:
In the Cost Actions dialog box, place a check in the Replan column for the control account or work package that you want to replan.
When you select it for a control account, PM Compass also selects Replan for all child work packages. If you deselect one of the child work packages, PM Compass also deselects the control account.
Click Next.
PM Compass displays the Replan Options dialog box where you can specify how you want to replan as well as provide a name for the replanned work package (if required).
Click Next.
PM Compass displays the Cost Actions Summary dialog box where you can review the changes you are making. Click Finish. PM Compass uses the Cobra web service to perform the Replan process on the sandbox project which includes:
New work packages are added if the replan work package option was selected
Work package statuses are changed where necessary
The replanning adjustments to the replan budget and performance cost classes are added
Replan budget, performance, and actual costs are moved to the new work package if the option to create a replanned work package was selected. Similarly, if this option is selected, the completed activities have their code assignments updated so that they link to the completed/replanned work package.
If you chose to move a work package that is relevant to a replan, the replan runs before PM Compass moves the work package.
When the workflow is completed, the results of the replan are moved to the live Cobra project.
Note: Replan is not performed on the live project during the complete step. Instead, the results of the replan performed in the change request are applied to the live project. For example, if actual costs are loaded into the Cobra project after the workflow is started, they are not considered in the replan adjustment.
