Field Description
Sequence Number

Enter the sequence number for the opportunity stage code you are adding. The sequence number is used to determine the system order of the stages when setting RFP Dates and Labels as required in Configure Opportunity Settings. Refer to the following example.

Opportunity Stages

  • 1: Identify
  • 2: Proposal Preparation
  • 3: Proposal Submittal

As of Stage on the Configure Opportunity Settings Screen: On this screen, you can mark the RFP Dates and Labels as required when the opportunity reaches an opportunity stage (As of Stage).

  • RFP Date 1: As of Stage = Identify
  • RFP Date 2: As of Stage = Proposal Preparation
  • RFP Date 3: As of Stage = Proposal Submittal

Manage Opportunities Screen: On the Status tab of this screen, if the opportunity stage of the opportunity record is equal to Proposal Preparation, then the following RFP Date fields on the RFP Info tab are required:

  • RFP Date 1: As of Stage = Identify (comes before Proposal Preparation, thus Required)
  • RFP Date 2: As of Stage = Proposal Preparation (Required)
Note: RFP Date 3 (As of Stage = Proposal Submittal) is not required since this stage comes after Proposal Preparation.

You can also change the sequence numbers on existing rows (including those for system-defined stage codes), or reuse sequence numbers on new rows. Costpoint automatically adjusts the sequence numbers of existing rows when you make a change.

Stage Code

Enter an opportunity stage code.

There are 12 Costpoint-defined opportunity stage codes that display automatically in this field. You cannot modify or delete these codes. Costpoint-defined codes are as follows:

  • IDENT: Identification
  • LEAD: Lead
  • QUAL: Qualified
  • CAPTURE: Capture
  • PROPPREP: Proposal Prep
  • PROPSUB: Proposal Submitted
  • NEGOTIATE: Negotiation
  • WON: Won
  • LOST: Lost
  • CANCEL: Cancel
  • NOBID: No Bid
  • POSTPONED: Postponed

For user-defined codes, once the code is assigned to an opportunity, you will not be able to delete it on this screen.

Stage Description Enter a description for new opportunity stage codes. For existing codes, you can modify this field for both user- and system-defined opportunity stage codes.
Grouped Stage Name Enter the grouped stage name for reporting on opportunities.
Show in Lookup

This check box is selected by default for both user- and system-defined stage codes, but you can modify it. Keep it selected to display the stage code in the lookup of the Stage field on the Manage Opportunities screen. Only those codes that are available in the lookup can be used for new records in Manage Opportunities.

If you clear this check box for a code that was already used in an existing record in Manage Opportunities, you will still be able to save that record as long as you do not replace the stage code for that record.

Source This field displays System (system-defined code) or User (user-defined code). You cannot modify this field.
Include in Current Pipeline Select this check box to include the opportunity stage in the current pipeline.
Win / Loss Select the option where the opportunity stage should be included in pipeline reports and analytics. Valid values are Win, Loss, and NA, with NA as the default value.
