Use the Forecast Change Request (FCR) to initiate a cost-only forecast change request involving multiple control accounts that is routed to the PCA for approval. When the PCA approves the changes, the changes are automatically applied to the cost system forecast.
You can document the proposed change and enter the value of the change in the Change Details view. Since this FCR type is for cost system-only changes (even when there is a schedule associated with the project), you enter the changes at the work package level. When you access the Change Details View, you see all of the control accounts you selected. You can expand these control accounts to see the related work packages.
The Forecast Change Request provides an auditable record of Control Account forecast changes.
In order to keep cost and schedule in sync when you create a Forecast Change Request, you can use the Edit Work Package Dates When Linked To Activities option on the Change Details on Form Tab (Workflow Type Configuration) to enable or disable the forecast work package forecast dates when a work package is linked to activities.
If the work package is linked to one or more activities:
Select the option if the work package is linked to activities and you want to be able to edit the work package forecast dates.
Clear the option if you want the work package forecast dates to be read-only when the work package is linked to activities.
If the work package is not linked to an activity, the forecast dates may be edited, regardless of whether or not the option is selected.
The option does not affect the editing rules based on the status. For example, if the work package is In Progress, you will not be able to edit the forecast start date.
The option is deselected and disabled when the change class is a budget class, or if the Create, Edit, or Delete Activities option is selected.
Before creating a PM Compass change request:
Configure the Change Details on Form tab of Workflow Type Configuration and select a valid template project/class.
In order to select multiple control accounts, the following options must be selected on the General tab of Workflow Type Configuration:
Relationship to Other Workflows: Workflow Can Be a Parent
Multiple Control Accounts: Generate this Workflow Type
If you have a code file validating your work package ID, you should add the new code to the code file in Cobra.
All workflow categories in PM Compass share a common form toolbar.
The Forecast Change Request form includes the following tabs:
Create a Forecast Change Request
Customize the form using Form Designer
Add time phased data at the WP and CA level for manual entry of costs
