Grouping Widget

The Grouping widget lets you add and order how your report rows are grouped. Any column with grouping added displays in this widget, whether it was grouped from the widget or by clicking the Grouping folder icon at the top of a column. You drag and drop grouped columns in the widget to re-order your grouping. You can also use expressions for more complex groupings. Grouping functionality uses the MySQL GROUP BY statement.

Contents

You access the Grouping widget on the Tools Report Action menu (Tools >> Grouping).

Grouping allows you to organize related data across multiple columns into one row. For example, if you create a report to show all of the courses still incomplete for your employees, you can group by Student Name. This creates a report where each employee in the Student Name column is listed only once in one row. Each employee's incomplete courses are then grouped together in the Course Name column for each employee.
